Boxing Class & Kickboxing Q and A
I have no experience in kickboxing. Can I Still try a class as a beginner?
Beginners start everyday! We take the time to walk you through a one-on-one intro before your first class to make sure you feel comfortable and assist you with feedback during each session so you continue to progress safely in your form and fitness.
What time are the sessions?
Kickboxing and strength training sessions happen Monday-Saturday
6:45am, 9:00am, 4:45pm, 5:45pm and 6:45pm
What Equipment do I need?
The only necessary equipment is boxing gloves, although hand wraps are very recommended. Don’t have your own? We offer a killer first timer discount on a brand new pair of 12oz boxing gloves for just $25 before your first class. Or you can opt to rent a pair for $7
What should I wear to class? Do I need a uniform?
No, these classes are not traditional martial arts classes. They are fun, filled with energy and designed to make you sweat. Wear comfortable workout attire that you won’t mind getting sweaty. Shoes are also optional on the deck!
I'm very interested in learning this for self defense. Should I take kickboxing or the COBRA Self Defense Class?
For self defense and skill building in striking we recommend the STRIKE+ program weekly Tuesday & Thursday at 545pm plus joining a Reality Self Defense camp which happens on select Saturday mornings during the month. The reality defense camp speaks specifically to real world threats and criminal intent when you have no gloves, no referees and no rule book. We highly recommend you get this training at least once in your lifetime
Is there a minimum or maximum age for taking the classes?
Since these classes are built for adults and their focus time we do recommend a minimum age of 13yrs old. Max age? Really there is none! Our oldest member is 79yrs old
I have bad knees and back problems. Will I be able to take these classes?
Yes! Kickboxing is a low impact exercise which means that it does not put the stress on your joints like other cardiovascular exercises. Classes are “Self Paced,” meaning that if you ever need to take a break during class or substitute a technique for one that feels too painful, you can do it. If you have knee or back issues, let us know and we will give you some modifications during class. Everyone is different, so is try a free class to see how your body responds.
